Associate Pastor
1st Street Church is seeking a full-time Associate Pastor to serve alongside our Lead Pastor in shepherding our congregation. Our roots reach back to 1921, but in a real sense we're a young church: we began a replant in 2022 and have been fully locally led since 2024. The replant has taken hold, and we're a growing church in a growing town. But our aim isn't growth for its own sake — it's to be the healthiest church we can be, trusting that growth follows faithful ministry as a natural result.
The person we're looking for brings three things together: a heart for partnership, a love for people, and a gift for building.
Partnership. You'd work as part of a team under the Lead Pastor's leadership toward a shared vision — carrying real responsibility to lead the ministries entrusted to you, with the Lead Pastor's collaboration, support, and accountability. This is a role for someone who thrives on trusted teamwork rather than needing to set the church's overall direction.
Love of people. Relational, day-to-day pastoral care is central to how we pastor here: sitting one-on-one with congregants, following up with guests, and walking with people through grief, crisis, marriage preparation, and life's hard seasons. We're looking for someone genuinely energized by that work. And because a healthy church tends to the health of those who lead it, we're committed to your own spiritual growth, rest, and sustainability in ministry.
Building. One of our central goals right now is offering robust discipleship — real pathways for people to grow as followers of Jesus. This hire exists in large part so someone can pioneer that programming and then manage it well: building and leading our discipleship infrastructure, including small group leadership, a foundational Statement of Faith class, deeper Bible study, and our 1st Street Orientation for new attendees. Several of these ask you to create programs, not just run ones that already exist.
Alongside discipleship, you'd contribute to Sunday services — connecting with guests, preaching on a regular rotation, performing baptisms, and helping host — and share in the spiritual leadership and administration of a growing church.
What we're looking for: a bachelor's degree in Christian studies, biblical studies, theology, or a related field; a solid grounding in Scripture and the ability to teach the Bible clearly to adults; and training and hands-on experience in pastoral care. An M.Div. or comparable graduate theological training and prior church-staff experience are preferred but not required. This full-time pastoral role includes our ministry licensing process as a required part of candidacy.
Compensation: $55,000 annually, commensurate with experience, plus a retirement contribution (MMBB), eligibility for a ministerial housing allowance, and generous paid time off.
If this sounds like the work God may be calling you to, we'd love to hear from you. Read the full posting and apply at https://1ststreetchurch.com/careers by July 31, 2026.
