First Baptist Church Devine is prayerfully seeking a Senior Pastor who is a well-trained professional, committed to serving Jesus Christ, his own family, and believers. The Pastor shall possess the administrative skills necessary to manage the staff, his family, and his duties at the church, as well as the interpersonal, relational skills for working with people within a growing community, located 20 miles south of San Antonio. Founded in 1882, FBCD is a multi-generational congregation which aligns with the Baptist General Convention of Texas. The Senior Pastor’s job functions include to study, to teach and to preach the Holy Bible, while shepherding the saints in accordance with the church’s mission statement, "To Equip All Generations to Impact Lives for Christ." Qualifications: Senior pastoral experience of at least five years of Christ-centered leadership required and a seminary degree in ministry or related area preferred. The senior pastor must possess the skills, education, and experience to assume and fulfill the duties and responsibilities described. The Senior Pastor shall provide spiritual and administrative leadership to the church. The core pastoral duties include overseeing the preaching ministry, planning worship services, and mentoring staff toward their ministry goals. The Pastor shall shepherd the congregation through confidential counseling, discipleship programs, and outreach initiatives. As chief administrator, the Pastor shall oversee paid staff, moderate business meetings, partner with the finance committee on budgeting, and perform pastoral duties like weddings and funerals. FBC Devine is eager to grow in God’s Word and seeks a biblically grounded, compassionate pastor to lead us toward deeper love for the Lord Jesus, for one another, and for unbelievers. We seek a Pastor to actively lead in evangelism, outreach, and discipleship initiatives to cultivate spiritual growth. The Pastor shall motivate staff and members to use their unique spiritual gifts while upholding the congregational governance model. Operationally, the Senior Pastor shall provide administrative leadership to assigned committees, coordinate the church budget with the finance committee, and champion financial accountability. Beyond internal administration, the Pastor shall represent the church in civic affairs and perform other duties as guided by church by-laws. FBCD has been a gospel light for 144 years with a gospel vision now and in the future. To meet growth, we began sanctuary renovations in fall 2025 with a goal to complete renovations within the year. The Senior Pastor will have an important role in this project as the church prepares for the continued growth south of San Antonio.
