Senior Pastor
SENIOR PASTOR
Classification: Permanent, Full-time, Ministerial
Principle Function: The pastor is responsible to the church for proclaiming the gospel of
Jesus Christ, teaching the Bible, pastoral care ministries in the church and community,
administrative leadership in all areas of church life, and administration of the paid employees.
Employees Relationship: The Senior Pastor shall be responsible for the administration of the
church employees on a day to day basis and may call on the Personnel Committee as
necessary. The Personnel Committee shall be the responsible supervisor of the Senior Pastor.
Responsibilities:
He is the spiritual leader and overseer of the congregation.
Lead in planning and conducting the worship services, prepare and deliver sermons, lead in observance of ordinances and other special services.
Provide administrative leadership for the total church program.
Lead the employees and the church in a caring ministry for persons in the church and community.
Proclaim the gospel and lead the church in proclaiming the gospel to the church and community.
Conduct funerals and perform wedding ceremonies.
Act as moderator of monthly ministry conference.
Work with the deacons, church officers, and committees as they perform their assigned responsibilities; train and lead the deacons in a program of family ministries.
Recommend and advise on the selection of all employees and determining their duties.
When needed, give supervision to other members of the church employees.
Serve as the primary employees adviser for the Stewardship Committee, Personnel Committee, Property and Space Committee, and the Missions Committee.
