ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Youth Discipleship Ministry • Provide overall leadership, vision, and direction for the church's youth ministry (grades 6–12) in alignment with the mission and values of the church. • Plan, prepare, and lead weekly youth discipleship programming, including Sunday School classes, Wednesday evening activities, Bible studies, and fellowship opportunities. • Develop and teach biblically sound lessons that encourage spiritual growth, Christian discipleship, and active participation in the life of the church. • Build meaningful relationships with youth and their families through regular communication, encouragement, and pastoral care. • Recruit, train, equip, schedule, and supervise adult volunteers who serve within the youth ministry. • Ensure all youth ministry volunteers and activities comply with MinistrySafe policies, church policies, and applicable safety procedures. • Coordinate and oversee youth participation in mission projects, service opportunities, outreach initiatives, retreats, camps, conferences, and other special events. • Plan and facilitate youth fellowship activities designed to foster Christian community and spiritual development. • Collaborate with the Senior Pastor and other church staff in the planning and implementation of Confirmation classes and other discipleship opportunities for youth. • Attend youth extracurricular activities, including athletic events, performances, competitions, and other school or community activities, as time permits, to support and encourage youth and strengthen relationships with families. • Chair and provide leadership to the Youth Advisory Council, including preparing agendas, facilitating meetings, and implementing ministry goals and recommendations. • Maintain appropriate records related to youth ministry participation, volunteer rosters, permissions, and event documentation. • Communicate regularly with youth, parents, volunteers, and church leadership regarding ministry activities, schedules, and opportunities for involvement. • Work cooperatively with church staff to coordinate church-wide events, intergenerational ministry opportunities, and special programs. Adult Discipleship Ministry • Collaborate with the Senior Pastor to develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive adult discipleship strategy for the congregation. • Assist in identifying, developing, and promoting Bible studies, small groups, classes, workshops, and other discipleship opportunities for adults. • Lead adult Bible studies, discipleship classes, and small groups as assigned. • Recruit, train, mentor, and support volunteer leaders who facilitate adult discipleship ministries. • Work with church staff and lay leadership to identify discipleship needs within the congregation and develop programs to address those needs. • Evaluate the effectiveness of adult discipleship programs and recommend improvements based on participation, feedback, and ministry goals. • Encourage and equip church members to grow in their faith through study, prayer, service, and Christian fellowship. • Promote participation in discipleship opportunities through effective communication and personal invitation. Administration and Stewardship • Develop annual ministry goals, plans, and objectives for youth and adult discipleship ministries. • Prepare and administer ministry budgets in cooperation with the Finance Chair, church treasurer/bookkeeper, and Senior Pastor. • Monitor ministry expenditures and ensure responsible stewardship of church resources. • Coordinate purchasing of ministry supplies, curriculum, equipment, and materials within approved budget parameters. • Maintain accurate records and submit reports as requested by church leadership. • Attend staff meetings, leadership meetings, and other church meetings as assigned. • Support the overall ministry of the church through teamwork, collaboration, and participation in church-wide initiatives. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES • Be present weekly in our Sunday worship services, weekly staff meeting, Wednesday night programming and other necessary worship and programming events • Maintain healthy Christian discipleship. • Make sure MinistrySafe protocols are being met personally and by all volunteers in his/her oversight • Participate in an annual review of job performance with the Senior Pastor and/or SPRT • Be reasonably available to respond to after-hours emergencies affecting the church, including fire alarms, utility failures, severe weather events, and other urgent situations requiring prompt on-site assessment and response. Other duties assigned in consultation with the Senior Pastor QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES The successful candidate must be passionate about making disciples of Jesus Christ and helping others grow in their faith. A minimum of three years of experience in youth ministry, discipleship, Christian education, or a related field is preferred. The position requires a relational leader who can effectively engage youth, adults, volunteers, and families while providing strong spiritual leadership. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to Methodist theology, strong organizational and communication skills, and a high level of integrity, responsibility, and trustworthiness. PAY & JOB DETAILS - This is a full-time, salaried position with a $30,000-$35,000 annual salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience. - Due to the need for the Minister of Youth & Adult Discipleship to be present and active in the community the church provides on-site housing for this position. This arrangement is for the church’s convenience, the housing is located on church premises and the use is a condition of the current job position. This arrangement meets the criteria of IRS Publication 15-B and therefore, the housing provided is exempt from Federal taxes and is not reported on the employee’s W-2. The value of this arrangement is estimated to be $24,000. - Paid time off (PTO) is a benefit of this position. No other benefits are offered. - This position reports to the Senior Pastor. FLSA CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT This salaried leadership role oversees ministry/program administration while also producing original creative content and communications. The position requires significant discretion, independent judgment, and specialized creative skills. As such, the role is classified as exempt under administrative and creative professional standards and is not eligible for overtime pay.
