Shearer Hills Baptist Church is prayerfully seeking a full-time Senior Pastor called by God to shepherd and lead our church family in fulfilling Christ’s mission through worship, discipleship, outreach, and service. Located in San Antonio, Texas, SHBC is a multi-generational Baptist congregation aligned with the Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT). The mission of SHBC is to equip everyone with the knowledge, hope, and love of Jesus. Our vision is to be “A family of God transforming communities for Jesus.” Biblical Qualifications The man called to serve as Senior Pastor should demonstrate the biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9. He should be a devoted follower of Jesus Christ who models spiritual maturity, integrity, humility, sound doctrine, and faithful leadership within his family, church, and community. Role and Responsibilities Study, prepare, and proclaim Bible-centered messages that faithfully and clearly teach God’s Word in a relevant and engaging manner with Godly wisdom and discernment. Provide spiritual leadership to help guide SHBC in accomplishing its mission and vision with humility, wisdom, integrity, and servant leadership. Engage in pastoral care for the congregation through prayer, discipleship, visitation, counseling, weddings, funerals, and support for the spiritual needs of the church. Equip, encourage, and disciple members across generations toward Christian maturity, ministry, evangelism, and ensure the health and stability of the church. Support missions and outreach efforts locally and beyond, including Baptist missions and ministry through partnership with the BGCT. Collaborate with church staff, deacons, church officers, ministry leaders, and committees in promoting unity and Christ-centered ministry throughout the church. Required Qualifications Seminary degree (M.Div. required, Doctorate preferred). Senior pastoral ministry experience, preferred minimum 5 years, with a demonstrated record of faithful church leadership. Church and Community SHBC is a healthy congregation with active ministries serving children, students, and adults. San Antonio is one of the fastest-growing and most culturally diverse cities in Texas, offering abundant opportunities to share the Gospel, build relationships, and impact the community for Christ. Compensation A competitive salary and benefits package is available, currently budgeted at approximately $105,000-115,000 plus benefits.
