Legacy Pastor First Baptist Church Marble Falls (Senior Adult Ministry 60+) FUNCTION: The Legacy Pastor is responsible to provide a robust, healthy and caring Legacy ministry. The Legacy Ministry is a specialized ministry that meets the needs of people who are retired, nearing retirement, or living in their senior years. This growing demographic needs a church family of close relationships with authentic believers, and they need a place to continue growing in spirit and truth. We believe that retirement is most fulfilling and purposeful when it’s connected to a church family. It is vital for those people who have been influenced by Christ Jesus over many years to passionately influence others toward Christ. EDUCATION & MINISTRY EXPERIENCE Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and proven ministry experience in a church or ministry context. QUALIFICATIONS: The Legacy Pastor should be called, passionate, and have displayed a level of giftedness for the role. This individual shall be a devoted disciple of Jesus and that devotion should be evident in their relationship with their family. The Legacy Pastor must have effective people & leadership skills necessary to coordinate and lead multiple teams of volunteers. The Legacy Pastor must be a creative visionary to invent ways to reach our community of those in near retirement, retirement, or senior years. The Legacy Pastor should be an extremely relational, high-energy leader who naturally draws people in, fosters community, and motivates senior adults toward meaningful engagement. RESPONSIBILITIES: a. Love and pastor the retirees, near retirees, and senior adults of our church and community b. Equip and disciple these groups for ministry while effectively teaching in large-group, small-group, and one-on-one settings c. Work alongside the Discipleship Pastor to foster growth within our Legacy classes and groups d. Communicate weekly with the Legacy group regarding upcoming calendar items, church events, and ministry opportunities e. Champion the growth and vitality of the Traditional Worship Service by fostering a welcoming environment, strengthening congregational connection, and engaging new and existing attendees f. Lead the Legacy Ministry Committee g. Oversee all Legacy activities and help establish a healthy and vibrant ministry h. Recognize the uniqueness of each generation of retirees, identify their pressing needs, and seek ways to foster faithfulness in each group i. Oversee the Sunday Night Legacy Bible Study j. Work alongside the Pastoral Care Pastor in conjunction with hospital visitation, care facilities, and funerals k. Preach and teach when called upon l.
