Leadership Resident
Summary
The Resident Leadership Program is a 15-month, cohort-based formation experience for college graduates discerning a call to Christian leadership in ministry, nonprofit, or faith-based settings. It is designed to cultivate spiritually mature leaders through intentional mentoring, theological formation, and hands-on ministry experience within a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
Residents serve alongside clergy and ministry leaders in rotational and project-based assignments that integrate spiritual formation, leadership development, and operational responsibility. Through structured supervision, coaching, and increasing responsibility, participants develop competencies in leadership, administration, pastoral care, and community engagement while gaining meaningful, real-world ministry experience.
Ministry & Leadership Development
• Participate in structured leadership training, coaching, and spiritual formation activities
• Support and, as appropriate, lead ministry initiatives aligned with the church’s mission and strategic priorities
• Assist clergy and ministry leaders in planning, executing, and evaluating programs and events
• Engage in regular reflection, feedback, and goal-setting with assigned mentors
Programmatic & Operational Support
• Collaborate with ministry teams on projects related to worship, discipleship, outreach, administration, or communications (based on placement focus)
• Support congregational engagement efforts, including small groups, volunteer coordination, and community partnerships
• Contribute to planning and execution of church events, programs, or seasonal initiatives
• Assist with administrative and operational tasks to gain exposure to church operations
Learning & Formation
• Participate in required cohort meetings, workshops, readings, and retreats
• Complete assigned projects, reflections, or capstone work demonstrating leadership growth
• Model professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to the church’s values and theological framework
Program Dates: June 1, 2027-August 31, 2028
Compensation for Full Program: $56,250
This is an exempt full-time position at 36.5 hours per week. Work hours are Monday – Thursday, 8:30-5:00 and Friday, 8:30-1:00. Occasional Sunday work is required around large events.
Qualifications
Required
• Demonstrated commitment to Christian faith and alignment with the mission and values of the church
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (seminary students or recent graduates encouraged to apply)
• Demonstrated leadership potential, curiosity and openness to formation in a supervised environment
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to receive feedback, learn in a supervised environment, and work collaboratively
Preferred
• Prior experience in church, nonprofit, or volunteer leadership settings
• Experience working with diverse populations or ministry contexts

Upon successful completion, the Leadership Resident will demonstrate:
