Senior/Lead Pastor First Baptist Church of Plano — Plano, Texas First Baptist Church of Plano is seeking its next Senior/Lead Pastor. For more than 170 years, First Baptist Plano has served the city of Plano with gospel ministry. Today, the mission remains clear: We are one family sent to welcome and disciple all people to faith in Jesus Christ. FBC Plano is a stable, multigenerational congregation worshiping on a new 10.4-acre campus along President George Bush Highway. With an average worship attendance of approximately 443, a full ministry staff, 40 active deacons, and a $2.6 million annual budget, the church is positioned for its next season of ministry. FBC Plano is committed to being a Bible-centered, mission-minded church with a warm, welcoming family culture. The church offers both a Classic worship service led by choir and orchestra and a Modern worship service led by a worship band, with the Senior Pastor preaching in both. The Role The Senior/Lead Pastor will provide biblical preaching, pastoral leadership, spiritual vision, and shepherding for the congregation while working collaboratively with staff, committees, deacons, and church members. The congregation is seeking a pastor who: Preaches and Teaches — Provides preaching and teaching grounded in Scripture, applicable to daily life, and politically neutral. Communicates Clearly — Communicates warmly and authentically across generations and worship styles while remaining active in the community. Models Character — Demonstrates authenticity, humility, and confidence in relationships, decision-making, and ministry. Provides Vision — Seeks the Lord in casting a vision that reaches the lost, develops leaders, equips believers to disciple others, and extends the church's mission beyond its walls. Works With Others — Partners with staff, committees, and church members to address deficiencies, generate ideas, strengthen unity, and move the church forward. Provides Pastoral Care — Shepherds the congregation with wisdom, compassion, and spiritual leadership through every season of life. Champions Missions — Embraces and elevates FBC Plano's longstanding commitment to local and global missions. Top Priorities for the Next Pastor The congregation has identified three primary priorities for the next season: Reach and retain young families and younger generations Help FBC Plano connect more effectively with young adults, families, children, and students. Strengthen children's and student ministries Develop stronger leadership, volunteer engagement, programming, and follow-up that helps families become connected to the life of the church. Clarify discipleship and assimilation processes Establish clear pathways for new believers and members to mature in their faith through mentoring, discipleship, and leadership development. Qualifications College degree required Seminary/theological training strongly preferred Five or more years of ministry leadership experience required Ability to affirm the Baptist Faith and Message (1963) Alignment with the Baptist General Convention of Texas Strong biblical knowledge and teaching ability Proven leadership and leadership-development skills Demonstrated pastoral care for people of all ages Compensation Starting Salary: $140,000 Benefits include employer contributions to a 401(k) retirement plan, health insurance, and life insurance. Health and life coverage are provided for the employee. Additional compensation details will be discussed with candidates who advance in the search process.
